Fine-tuning

Further training a pre-trained model on a smaller, task-specific dataset so it specialises.

Last updated

Fine-tuning starts from a model that already understands language or images and continues training it on curated examples of the target task. This teaches tone, format or domain knowledge far more cheaply than training from scratch. It is commonly used to make a general model follow a company style, answer in a fixed structure or improve on a narrow domain.
