AI Agent

A system that uses a model to plan and carry out multi-step tasks, often calling tools along the way.

An AI agent goes beyond answering a single question. It breaks a goal into steps, decides when to use tools such as search or code, observes the results and keeps going until the task is complete. Agents are powerful but need guardrails, because errors compound across steps and actions can have real side effects.
